2 oz of whiskey
3/4 oz of simple syrup

Cut the lemon in half, cut it into wedges. Muddle the lemon wedges in a cocktail shaker. Add 4 mint leaves and lightly muddle again. Pour in the remaining ingredients and fill with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a rock glass with crushed ice or a single large ice cube. Slap a mint sprig between your palms and use as a garnish.
