2 oz of rye whiskey
1 oz of Aperol
1/2 oz of ginger syrup
1/2 oz of Lemon Juice

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. If using fresh ginger, muddle a 1-inch peeled section of the root with the lemon juice before adding the remaining ingredients. Shake until chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon peel.
